Last Photo analyzes your photo library entirely on your device, using Apple's built-in image processing, to find photos of the people and pets you choose to track. No photo, face data, or analysis result is ever transmitted anywhere.
What face data the app collects. To group photos of the same person, Last Photo uses Apple's on-device Vision framework to detect faces in your photos and compute mathematical face descriptors (called "feature prints"), and stores small face thumbnail crops that you approve when you pick the people to track. This is the only face data the app handles.
How face data is used. Face descriptors and thumbnails are used solely to (a) group photos of the same person, (b) match new photos to the people you track so your day counters stay accurate, and (c) show a small avatar next to each person's name. Face data is never used for advertising, identification of strangers, or any other purpose.
Sharing and storage. Face data is never shared with anyone — not with us, not with third parties. It is stored only in the app's private storage on your device. It is never transmitted off the device; the app has no server and makes no network connection with face data.
Retention. Face data is kept only while you track the related person. It is deleted immediately when you remove that person, when you use "Delete All My Data" in Settings, or when you uninstall the app. No copy exists anywhere else, so deletion is complete and permanent.
The app stores — on your device only — the names you enter, day counters, small face thumbnails you approved during setup, place information derived from your photos' location metadata, and your settings. A small copy of recent photos is kept in the app's private storage so your home-screen widget can display them. Deleting the app deletes all of this. You can also erase everything at any time with "Delete All My Data" in Settings.
The Nature tab reads only the location metadata of your photos. To display a place name (like a city), the app sends only coordinates — never a photo — to Apple's Maps geocoding service, the same service the built-in Maps app uses.
Nothing. Last Photo contains no analytics, no advertising SDKs, no trackers, and no third-party code that phones home. Purchases are processed by Apple; we receive no personal information from them.
Reminders are scheduled locally on your device and are off by default.
Last Photo is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from anyone.
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date.
